Week 5 already!

Kia ora koutou,

What a busy week Kowhai had last week! Everyone seemed to really enjoy our Early Settlers Day to Cobblestones and the Pioneer Museum. We were very lucky with the weather and are very grateful to the parent helpers. Thank you!

We were also very fortunate with the weather on Friday for the school picnic and swimming sports. Everyone in Kowhai participated in the races which was fantastic. It was great to see lots of parents there too. I will post some pictures  of both events during the week.

All our PAT, STAR and basic facts testing is now completed. It has provided us with some very valuable data of where each student is at and what we need to work on together.

The next couple of weeks will be the last of swimming so please ensure your child has their togs EVERYDAY no matter what the weather in the morning. We will make the call about whether or not we go depending on the weather just before our 12pm slot at the pool.

Children will come home with homework this week. It needs to be back at school by Friday. Please support them with this.

As always call in, email or phone should you wish to speak about anything :)

Week 3

Hello again,

What a busy short week we have had in Kowhai.

We have been busy getting to know each other over the last two weeks - what a great group of kids we have! I hope you will be able to see our class photo above...

We are looking forward to a visit from local historian Gareth Winter this Tuesday morning. Gareth will be speaking to the Tararua syndicate as part of our inquiry unit on Early Settlers. Speaking of this, thank you to those of you who have volunteered to come along on our trip next week. We do still need more help - please send your slip back to school this week if you can come with us.

We have been focusing on kindness this past week. The kids came up with some brilliant role plays demonstrating how they can show kindness at home, school and out in the community.

Please remember to test your child on their spelling words each night and ensure they are reading their assigned chapter book or school journal. Kowhai kids will also be bringing home a family tree this week to complete as homework. Please support them with this.

That's all from me this week - please do pop in when you can & don't forget to comment on the blog!
